Across the desolate windswept moors of the Peak District there is a commune, old railway cottages that once sheltered workers digging out the Beeching-defunct Woodhead Tunnel between Sheffield and Manchester. For me as a young boy it was the place for 'flower power', tree huggers, CND, vegetarians, vegans, and anyone that didn't fit into 'main stream' society. It was the place where the bogey man lived.
