The Mystery of a Book Bus Tour
No, seriously. It was much we all love books. The authors on the tour. The tour managers, Frank and Ryan, who had us sign personal copies to each of them and listened to every talk we gave. The amazing booksellers who hosted us. And the readers, the readers, the readers who came out to see us. Some coming from almost as far away as we did -- one gentleman drove over three and a half hours to meet Connolly and get his books signed. And the incredible collectors. One had the 1998 self-published version of Lip Service. Only 2500 were ever printed.

Mark McGhee: Bristol Rovers are talking to Mustapha Carayol about new contract
MARK McGhee is determined to secure Mustapha Carayol's future at Bristol Rovers – and confirmed the club are talking to the winger about extending his contract. Carayol was in inspirational form in the Pirates' 5-1 hammering of Accrington Stanley, playing a part in four of their goals as they rounded off their home campaign in spectacular style with another big win.
It means the Pirates have scored 12 times in their last two home games, although McGhee is well aware that the 22-year-old Gambian's red-hot form could make him a target for other clubs. We are in control of that situation. Muzzy has another year of his contract left and we are talking to him about extending," said the manager.
"I am determined to try to keep Muzzy here. There may appear a set of circumstances that makes that impossible, but that hasn't happened yet.
"I am hopeful that Muzzy will be tearing up defences like that on a new pitch in the first game of next season.
"He was doing it all. He was linking play, going past people, tackling, heading, defending, and providing crosses for goals. About the only thing he didn't do was score himself.
"But when he plays like he did today he is unstoppable. He was fantastic."
Matt Harrold netted his second double in as many home games to take his tally for the season to 18 goals, with Andy Dorman also netting a spectacular goal and youngster Matthew Lund coming off the bench to grab a brace in the final game of his loan spell from Stoke City.
"I told the players beforehand that I wanted them to go out and try to help Matty get towards 20 goals. Now he has a chance of doing that next week," said McGhee.
"I thought some of the combination play was superb considering the surface we were playing on. The movement around the ball and around each other is what we have been working towards.
"The finishing was terrific, but there were great performances all over the park.
"Michael Smith stepped in as Danny Woodards was suffering with a sore hamstring and he played really, really well. Aaron Downes came in and played really, really well and eventually Matty Lund came on and he contributed with two terrific goals.
"That is his game, arriving in the box and getting goals, and that is why we are so keen to have him back here next season."
McGhee and the players were given a rousing reception as they did a lap of honour at the end of the game, but the manager admitted: "I was embarrassed."
He said: "It's not something I really enjoy, although I wanted the players to enjoy it.
"What have we really done? Nothing. We are about to finish in mid-table and watch other teams going into the play-offs.
"I enjoyed the result today, so I was able to walk around with a smile on my face, but deep down I can't wait for next season to get started – so I couldn't wait for that lap of honour to finish."
Rovers round off their campaign next weekend with a trip to Dagenham & Redbridge.
Even though he missed Saturday's game through injury, Woodards was named Rovers Player of the Season by both the Presidents Club and Young Pirates, with Cian Bolger their choice for Young Player of the Season.
The Supporters Club will announce their choices at their awards night at the Memorial Stadium on Thursday.

High-flying position on offer with fire service – private balloon pilot
SOMEONE with a head for heights is being offered a unique job – but the catch is you have to work for free.
An unusual advert was placed in yesterday's Post for a private balloon pilot to take on Avon Fire & Rescue Service's large red hot air balloon.
The fire authority has been criticised in the past for spending £11,000 in one year operating it, but now it is looking for a pilot to take on the role for free.
As well as flying the balloon at "key events" such as the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta, the pilot will also be responsible for insurance, maintenance and risk assessment.
While the canopy is included, the basket is not, and the pilot would also have to pay for gas to inflate and fly it.
The fire service spent £13,000 on the canopy – made by Bedminster-based Cameron Balloons – in 2007, and is still the only fire authority in the country to use a balloon. The balloon carries the fire service's logo in red, and a white stripe below features changeable messages that reflect trends in fires the brigade attends.
In 2009 the balloon cost £1,000 a day to fly, which paid for a pilot, basket and gas to inflate and fly it, but an Avon Fire & Rescue Service spokeswoman said she did not know if this figure was still accurate.
Funding for the balloon for the last four years has come from the brigade's own community safety budget, but the authority's recent contract with Sky Power has now come to an end.
When the balloon was first launched in 2007, deputy chief fire officer Jerry O'Brien said to buy the balloon and then fly it would cost less than attending four car fires – which the brigade often does in a day.
But former Bristol city councillor and member of the Avon Fire Authority, Spud Murphy, complained that the balloon was a waste of money.
At the time, he said: "It's a waste of rate payers' money when you see that the fire service precept on the council tax has gone up four per cent.
"They didn't need to buy the balloon. It's just something they can use to take people up for a rides in – no other fire service has a balloon."
But now the fire authority believes the balloon would be an "asset" to a pilot, especially someone newly-qualified who could not afford their own balloon.
A spokeswoman for Avon Fire & Rescue Service said: "The successful applicant will be able to take the balloon away free of charge.
"The contract would involve attending key community events including the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta.
"Which events were attended would probably be negotiated with the pilot.
"Hopefully it would be a mutually beneficial arrangement as the pilot would be given a balloon to fly and our safety messages would be promoted.
She added: "We are currently looking at all opportunities to save money, especially in the present financial climate. We are just trying to use one of our own assets in a cost neutral way."
Anyone interested in the contract should contact David Stone on 07584218556 or on david.stone@avonfire.gov.uk.
The closing date is May 8.

Vodafone first carrier to jump on the new Samsung Galaxy phone bandwagon
Rumors and leaks have been flying fast and furious about Samsung's next handset to be graced with the Galaxy moniker, and we've just gotten one more tidbit. Other than the event invite Sammy sent out last week and a recent video teaser, official info on the handset's been hard to come by. However, Vodafone's just put up a page indicating the carrier will, indeed, get the new superphone and is letting you register for updates on its status. So, we now know at least one carrier that'll have the handset, the question is who else is in line to get the Galaxy?

HTC talks smartphone design: from inception to final product
At the Frequencies media summit in Seattle over the last two days, HTC walked us through the fine details on how its smartphones are developed, going from the boring rectangular ABS block to the more refined plastic mockups that are presented to carriers and focus groups -- the findings of which then shape the final product. Sadly, we weren't allowed to take photos of the One X mockups that were shown to us, but do read on to learn the general process of how an HTC phone goes from inception to the final product.
